The three types of goals are easy, middle, and guaranteed goals. Acuff says to “think of it like a goal ladder with three rungs. One of the vertical rails is effort and the other is time. The higher you climb, from Easy to Middle to Guaranteed, the greater amounts of effort and time you need to accomplish the goal.”
If you think about it, getting the appropriate amount of energy for the day through sleep should be easy. Most adults need 7-8 hours. So if we know what time we plan to be up in the morning, we work backwards about 7-8 hours and plan to be asleep by that time.
But that’s where it all goes wrong.
Back in January, I shared my word of the year and my goals or focuses for the upcoming year. While this is happening a bit after mid year, I did a recent check in with myself as to where I was at in the creation of these rhythms and routines and thought it may be helpful to share. As a reminder, my word of the year is space and my three focus areas or goals are a space for love, a space for living, and a space for legacy. So let’s see where we’re at, shall we?
